The Oliver Wyman Forum and The News Movement Launch a Comprehensive Data-driven Exploration of Gen Z

December 2, London/New York – The Oliver Wyman Forum and the social-first media company, The News Movement, today announced a new partnership to create a data-driven research project exploring the lives of Gen Z and their impact on business and society.

The two-year partnership will include the most comprehensive study to date into the lives, views, needs and behaviors of 18 to 25-year-olds in the United States and the United Kingdom. The research will also examine their views on various topics including well-being, media consumption, consumerism and brands, and the future of work.

A uniquely collaborative approach with Gen Z creators and business leaders, the research will design and examine the results of global, cross-generational surveys, and focus groups. Data from over 10,000 respondents will be presented monthly in creative formats and live conversations, much of it produced and led by 18 to 25-year-olds.

The partnership will release its first full report and set of insights at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos on Jan. 17, 2023.

Building on the initial launch in January, the partnership will release new insights covering such topics as crypto assets, workforce, financial literacy, mental welfare, women’s health, sport, gaming, activism, climate, and artificial intelligence every month.

In addition, the partnership will publish a new list of the world’s most influential 18 to 25-year-olds annually, with younger cohorts of current 12 to 17-year olds making the list and joining the broader effort as they get older.

Ana Kreacic, Partner and Chief Knowledge Officer at Oliver Wyman and Chief Operating Officer of the Oliver Wyman Forum, said: “At over a quarter of the global population, Gen Z is set to become the world’s highest-paid spending power and to create large shifts across the public and private sectors in the next decade. Our understanding of their values, needs, and behaviors, and their potential impact is nowhere near where it needs to be. By collaborating with The News Movement and Gen Z, we hope to improve understanding and ensure our future leaders are given a platform to voice their aspirations and concerns. This research will help shape future discussions for more inclusive outcomes and goals while identifying opportunities and risks for business and society.”

Kamal Ahmed, Editor-in-Chief and co-founder of The News Movement, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Oliver Wyman Forum to gather deeper insights into the next generation of consumers. Focusing on young audiences is at the heart of what we do at TNM. It’s the reason we have young journalists leading the way in our newsrooms and why we are on the platforms young audiences use everyday. With this project, we will uncover the insights and stories of this vital generation, and showcase how organizations, businesses, and governments can engage with them on the issues that matter.”
